Very groov-ish…
The Internet and Drake stans (stalkers+fans) everywhere are waiting anxiously on the heels of his platinum-selling Thank Me Later for his Winter due mix-tape dubbed It’s Never Enough. The Canadian singer/actor/rapper/slash everything in the damned book gushes about the feel of the forthcoming album.
“I spent all my winters in Toronto, man, and you have no idea what that’s like. It’s like bitter cold, find someone to love and stay inside, and that’s exactly what I’m making: the soundtrack to a Toronto winter.”
Ladies, yes, the album will be majority R&B! But little did we know that the face of Young Money and Air Drake describes singing as a task:
“There’s actually rapping on there, to be honest with you. It was hard for me to do a whole mixtape full of singing.”
Is that a hint of vulnerability? Careful lovey, give them an inch and it could come back to bite you in the ass! Very seldom in the hip-hop genre do we find rappers willingly open to divulge any inkling of flaw. Listening to the new track has raised my view as to whether Drake is a hard faced rapper–or a love tortured young man. Far be it from me to dissect anyone’s craft; but this excerpt from I Get Lonely Too begs to differ:
“Waiting for us to get it on, ain’t got a love to call steady. Hope it ain’t like that for long, I’ll be your friend if you let me.”
Maaaaybe I’m reading too much into it! But it seems to me Drake is a passive lover-the “I like you-if you like me back” type. Thoughts?

Hmmm….as I started to listen to the track I started to realize I’ve heard this before. The more I got into the lyrics it came to me….Drake stole it from TLC’s 1999 album, Fanmail. Yea the album didn’t do that great (CrazySexyCool will always be my favourite lol) but I definitely know that he took those lyrics from their song “Fanmail”…check it out… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpH-UR8_B3o .
Yes he did Jen! Lol He has been known to sample ALOT of music from different people. From TLC to Swedish Indie singer Lykke Li in “Little Bit”. I like to think it’s done tastefully and in admiration of their style. But you have those other mainstream artists that completely screw it up for the whole lot. (i.e.: Jason DeRulo COMPLETELY degrading Imogean Heaps “Hide & Seek” with his smash hit “Whatcha Say”)
I do find myself repeating this track tho…haha. Quite sultry it tis
OMG I know right?! Thanks for commenting. It means alot
